Women And Westward Migration (1 jan 1848 ano – 1 jan 1880 ano)
Descrição:
The discovery of gold set off the westward migration to Colorado, California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana and the Dakotas. Although men worked the mines, women also migrated west and made up about half the population. Women worked long hours as domestic laborers in boarding houses, private homes and many were employed as prostitutes, which was legal. Women entered prostitution because there weren't enough other well paying jobs.
