Conservation and Preservation (1 jan 1901 ano – 1 jan 1908 ano)

Descrição:

President Roosevelt took a very strong and public stand for the conservation of public lands. Using his square deal method of negotiating, he compromised between conservationists and preservationists and through executive orders reserved 150 million acres of timberland for national forests, but also spent $80 million to construe dams and canals. This established the precedent of the president having the authority to address environmental concerns and therefore, increased Executive power.
