The U.S. used military action, covert CIA operations and increased funding of different local factions to fight terrorism, but the issue is still an ongoing threat to the U.S. to the present day. The ongoing threat of terrorism, ensures that the U.S. maintains an ongoing aggressive, interventionist foreign policy.
