Some Hebrews left Canaan for Egypt, but there were way too many Hebrews in Egypt, and the Pharaoh feared they would take over, so he enslaved them all. Moses, a Hebrew, is ordered by God to save them, so Moses demands the Pharaoh free his people, but Pharaoh refuses. So, Moses sets a series of deadly plagues on Egypt, until the Pharaoh agrees.
