WWII resulted in the improvement of race relations for Chines Americans. During WWII, Japan occupied China and as a result, the U.S. viewed China as an ally. This was a motivating factor behind Congress' decision to repeal the Chines Exclusion Act of 1943, and Chines immigrants became the first Asians that could become naturalized citizens.
