In 1953 Iranian Leader Mohammad Mosaddegh wanted to nationalize a British oil company. Though it was British, Iran claimed it as theirs. This made Britain mad and the United States was worried that Mosaddegh was becoming communistic. Britain and the United States got together and planned how to get rid of Mosaddegh. Britain and the US were both in favor of Mohammed Reza the Shaw. Britain and the US were successful in the overthrow of Mosaddegh and Reza rose to power.
