The Great Leap Forward was a campaign led by the Chinese Communist Party. One of the things the campaign did was help the rural areas farm more food by setting a higher requirement. The rural areas lied about the numbers of food this led to the city giving away more than they had and many people starved because of it, this was the Great Famine.
