During the turbulent time after the Bar Kochba revolt, the Sanhedrin relocated frequently. Judea had become depopulated, and so the Jewish center moved north to the Galilee. The Sanhedrin was located in Usha (135-140), Shefaram (140-163), and in Bet She'arim and Sepphoris (163-217). During this time period, the Mishna was compiled by Yehuda HaNasi.
