Wisconsin v. Yoder (8 dez 1971 ano – 15 maio 1972 ano)

Descrição:

Several parents who followed the Amish religion were punished because they did not send their children to school even though the law required it. They argued that according to their religion they could not send their children into high school and were protected by the first amendment. The state argued that school attendance was needed to prevent children from being a burden on society. The Supreme Court decided it was within the parents religious right to keep their children at home and that two years without high school would not affect how well the children did in life. This gave many people the right to keep their children at home under religious reasons.
