Tinker v. Des Moines (12 nov 1968 ano – 24 fev 1969 ano)

Descrição:

A group of children decided to show support for the truce in the Vietnam war by wearing black bracelets to school. The school found out and said that no armbands could be worn to school. The children did anyway and were not allowed to attend school until the new year. They sued the school and eventually won a supreme court case saying the school violated their freedom of speech. The court sided with the children saying the bands represented pure speech and did not incite any immediate negative activities and the school was depriving them of their right to speak.
