Originally nomadic Arabs from north west Arabia. Established at Petra in 312 BCE and expanded south. Power shifted to Medain Salih (al Hegra). Created large trading kingdom up to Medetranian. Spices, frankensence and myrth in demand from Rome. Tombe building stopped around 71 CE. In 106 CE Romans took over and annexed Nabatian kingdom and called it the Provence of Arabia.
