Descrição:

She was a reluctant activist in the civil rights movement of the 1960s.
She and her husband challenged Virginia's ban on interracial marriage.
She married a white man in the District of Columbia then they moved to Virginia, where their marriage violated Virginia's Racial Integrity Act.
Mildred and her husband was arrested for travelling together in 1964.
