Hair and hats: pageboy, French bonnet

Early 16th Century Women's Dress:
Garments: undergarments now used to shape the body, stays or pair of bodys, busk, verdugale or farthingale
Gowns: frontlet, partlet
Various sleeve styles: turned-back funnel shape with under sleeve, puffed sleeves
Hair and headdress: Hair worn long, center part, English or gable hood, French hood

General Characteristics of Dress, Late 16th Century:
The ruff collar and supportasse (later), needlepoint and bobbin lace

Late 16th Century Men's Dress (1550-1600)
Garments (similar to early 16th, but changes in styling):
Doublet, jerkin: peascod belly, pecadils
Trunk hose and breeches: melon-shaped w/ panes, canions, snug-fitting from hip to knee
Hair and Hats: shorter hair generally, mustaches and pickdevant beards (later) captain hat (late)

Late 16 Century Women's Dress:
Gowns (silhouette changes): wheel or French farthingale, stomacher w/ busk, trunk sleeve, closed or open ruff, conch
Hair and Hats: Hair worn up, curled, ornaments, captain.
