The French and Indian War, also known as the Seven Years’ War, was fought between the colonies of British America and New France. France’s expansion into the Ohio River Valley brought repeated conflict with the claims of the British colonies and a series of battles that led to the start of the war in 1754. By the time the war was over in 1763, a total of 22,300 men were either killed, wounded, or captured. The result of the war led to the British claiming victory and the Treaty of Paris of 1763.
