The War of Augsburg, otherwise known as the Nine Year's War or the War of the Grand Alliance, was the war between the Grand Alliance and Louis XIV. The Grand Alliance drew together to protect Europe from Louis's expansionist tendencies. The conflict ended temporarily in 1697 with the treaty of Ryswick.
