The Great Depression was caused by the constant rise of an unchecked stock market. Everyone wanted to be rich and were investing. The rich were becoming richer and too many people were buying on credit. On "Black Tuesday" or October 29,1929 the NYSE suffers a record loss. People freaked out and ran to the banks to collect their money, however the banks ran out of cash. 80% of Americans had no savings . Economy slows, Stock market crash, Banks fail, inequality of wealth, dust bowls, federal reserve policy are all factors in the Great depression.
