He tries to get his girls the best gifts he can, asking their mom what they’re into and trying really hard to get to know them better, but at this age, it’s all but too late. He hears his youngest call his ex’s partner ‘dad’ in the next room over and almost breaks down on the spot. He can’t tell if they liked his gifts, but he can tell they feel awkward hanging out with him. He spends evenings crying himself to sleep and waking up thrashing. He doesnt think they want him back next year.
