Secured an absolute political power and waged numerous wars having a strong army at his disposal. Under his reign, France became an influential world power.

Attaching the aristocracy to his extremely extravagant court at Versailles, he gained increased control over them, making them vie for his attention and grace.

Towards the end of his life he took many bad decision, which left France in debt and ruined by conflicts.
