Reagan and the Soviet Union's prime minister met over seveal periods during this time period. At one of the last ones a reporter asked Reagan if he would comment on a statement he had made about the Soviet Union in his first term in presidency. He called the Soviet Union the "evil empire" and now he countered the comment by saying it was a new era.
