The allied powers invaded Sicily and took it from the Axis Powers. The allied invasion of Sicily was also known as Operation Husky. The main purpose of this invasion was to drive away Italy from the war. After fighting for 38 days, the U.S and Great Britain drove away German and Italian troops from Sicily.
