The First Continental Congress started on September 5, 1774 and ended October 26, 1774. At the meeting a delegate from every colony, except Georgia, met at Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They talked about the problems they were facing with England, like the Intolerable Acts, which the British Parliament had placed on the colonists as a result of the Boston Tea Party. The delegates sent a letter to the King explaining the problems the colonies had with the way Britain was treating them. They said that the King should stop the Intolerable Acts or they would not buy English goods. But, Parliament didn’t listen, and the colonists began the boycott.
