John Marshall was the fourth chief justice of the US Supreme Court. Marshall was a Federalist, and was appointed by John Adams. He was known as one of the midnight judges. The midnight judges were a group of Federalists appointed by John Adams as his last attempt to keep Federalists in power. Marshall accessed issues pertaining to the federal government with federalist approaches. He was the writer of the court’s opinion regarding the Marbury V. Madison trial.
