No one knows what the future of gaming will be like, but some of my guesses are that VR will soon become affordable and easier to use, leading to its widespread usage and that singleplayer games will still continue to be around despite the continual rise in multiplayer games. Another guess is that someone will go on to create a "Oasis" type game from Ready Player One, where it's one giant social hub that people play, interact, and maybe even work in.
