People had a new way of looking at life and the world. Reason and science was important and was used as a tool for discovering and proving various subjects and manners. The monarchy in England was weakend and the King Charles I was decapitated in 1648. Thus, two political parties were formed: the Tories and the Whigs. The writing of the Bill of rights confirmed that the monarchy laid subordinate to the Parliament. Meanwhile, writers strived for liberty ant justice as they wanted voice to the opinions of the common people.

Many saw the Great plague and fire in London as being Gods punishment for defying him. Therefore many people in Britain moved to USA.
