The ENIAC, also know as the Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer, was built between 1943, and 1945 by the United States Military. It was the first large-scale computer to run at electronic speed without being slowed down using any mechanical parts. The reason that it was built was to calculate artillery firing tables.
