Leisler's Rebellion (31 maio 1689 ano – 21 mar 1691 ano)
Descrição:
A rebellion in New York led by Jacob Leisler, a German merchant and militia officer who had very strong religious beliefs. It is said that these beliefs are what motivated Leisler to fight for Protestantism.
Leisler's Rebellion is similar to Bacon's Rebellion and Shays' Rebellion, not only in the sense that they were all in fact rebellions, but also because each was led by leaders who were an example of the people their issues effected. Bacon was a planter and a former indentured servant, the two types of people the loss of land affected most. Shays was a farmer and a war veteran, also the two type of people the land tax affected most. And lastly, Leisler was a religious man who strongly believed in Protestantism.
