From the years 1966 - 1970 there are many examples of extermination. In 1966, massive rioting started in the major towns of northern Nigeria against the Igbo minority in the north, nearly 30,000 died. The Biafran war, was a bloody civil war that lasted from 1967 - 1970. Biafra represented nationalist aspirations of the Igbo people. The Igbo people felt that they could no longer co exist with the Northern-dminated federal government.
This conflict is a result of political, economic, ethnic, cultural and religious tensions. This war led to the deaths of roughly one to two million people.
