Theodore Roosevelt was sworn in as the 26th President of the United States after the assassination of President William McKinley.

Roosevelt held the belief that the president was "a steward of the people." He's on record of saying, "I did not usurp power, but I did greatly broaden the use of executive power."

President Roosevelt conserved 290 million acres of land as National Parks, Monuments and/or Refuges.
