2/14/68 F. Robert Naka, USAF chief reconnaissance scientist at MITRE Corporation; later Chief Scientist of the USAF (1975-1978) "tells Robert Low that NORAD radars track UAP's 'coming in from outer space.' He states NORAD has already tracked such objects."
2/27/96 Carl Sagan "I personally have been captured by the notion of extraterrestrial life... It would be an absolutely transforming event in human history... we have to be very careful. There have been a few instances in the [past]. We thought we found something, and it always turned out to be explicable."
1968 Hynek (left) meets with H.C. Cross (not pictured) after Jacques Vallee (right) discovers "Pentacle Memorandum" "In 1968, Air Force UFO study scientist Dr. J. Allen Hynek approached Dr. Cross about the memo, which had been brought to Hynek's attention. Cross agreed to meet alone with Hynek to discuss it, but instead Cross brought with him 4 'colleagues'. When Hynek started reading from his notes about the memo, Cross snatched the paper out of Hynek's hands and said that it was an 'old story'"
6/28/23 Michio Kaku, CCNY "Physicists say 'follow the data'. Previously, we did not have much data... now we have hours of videotape from the U.S. Navy... these objects can travel between Mach 5 and Mach 20: up to 20 times the speed of sound. They can drop 80,000 feet within a few seconds.... we have videotapes of them diving into the oceans and then swimming... it seems to be beyond anything we can field with our arsenal... now the military has to prove that these are NOT extraterrestrials"
10/25/2024 Donald Trump T: "there's a lot of interest in uh the, uh, 'people coming from space'" R: "how much did they tell you about that?" T: "a lot... I interviewed jet pilots... they said: 'we saw things, sir, that were very strange like a round ball but it wasn't a comet or a meteor it was something and it was going four times faster than an F-22.'" R: "is it possible that there's some program that they didn't tell you about?" T: "I I think I had a great relationship with the military basically"
11/10/2021 Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence "Is there something else that we simply do not understand, which might come extraterrestrially?" 2021 Ignatius Forum at Washington National Cathedral
12/16/2020 John Brennan, CIA Director (2013-2017) "the phenomena... continues to be unexplained and might, in fact, be some type of phenomenon that is the result of something that we don’t yet understand and that could involve some type of activity that some might say constitutes a different form of life."
5/17/2021 Barack Obama "What is true, and I'm actually being serious here, is that there is footage and records of objects in the skies that we don't know exactly what they are."
4/16/1966 Patrolman H. Wayne Huston, East Palestine, OH "It was brighter than the sun when it came up.” "Just before 5:30 A.M.—nearly thirty minutes into the chase—in Salem, Ohio, two police officers near the border with Pennsylvania, who had been listening to the chase on the radio, saw the object. They described it as 'a bright ball,' much larger than a jet, of unvarying brightness in the distance. They also saw three jets following it." The chase inspired "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"
2024 Kirk McConnell, Senate Armed Services Committee staffer "I recently retired... after 37 years working as a staff member [with high-level clearances]... these events were not just accompanied by visual observation, but also some of the best sensing systems that money can buy.... the AEGIS radar system. We are seeing these objects from what appear to be space altitudes and coming down at a high speed and just stopping in mid air. And then flying arround and going straight back up."
6/25/21 Office of the Director on National Intelligence report: "Preliminary Assessment: Unidentified Aerial Phenomena" "Some UAP appeared to remain stationary in winds aloft, move against the wind, maneuver abruptly, or move at considerable speed, without discernable means of propulsion. In a small number of cases, military aircraft systems processed radio frequency (RF) energy associated with UAP sightings."
1993 George Knapp, CBS Las Vegas, speaking in 2023 "We met with... Boris Sokolov, who had been the head of what was then the largest UFO investigation conducted by a government in the history of the world. There was a period of ‘78 to ‘88 where the Russians had these dramatic UFO incidents, and they decided to create a program to get to the bottom of it. I got access to the files... thousands of pages from the Russian Ministry of Defense."
1993 George Knapp, CBS Las Vegas, speaking in 2023 "Sokolov said there have been 45 incidents in which Russian warplanes engaged with UFOs, chased them, even shot at them. In most incidents, the UFOs shot away at unbelievable speeds, but in three incidents, the Russian warplanes were dibbled (pierced) and crashed. Two of the pilots were killed."

9/23/1947 Lt. Gen. Nathan Twining, USAF (later chair of Joint Chiefs of Staff, 1957-1960) "It is the opinion that... The phenomenon is something real and not visionary or fictitious... The reported operating characteristics such as extreme rates of climb, maneuverability (particularly in roll), and motion which must be considered evasive when sighted or contacted by friendly aircraft and radar... Metallic or light reflecting surface... Circular or elliptical in shape."
1950's Capt. Edward Ruppelt, USAF, Project Blue Book, writing in 1956 “UFOs were seen more frequently around areas vital to the defense of the United States. The Los Alamos-Albuquerque area, Oak Ridge, and White Sands Proving Ground rated high.”
2/17/49 and through the next year "[At Sandia Base in NM] a bright 'yellow-orange cigar-shaped light' was observed by approximately 100 people, including Sandia’s military security guards, for 7 minutes, between 5:59 and 6:06 pm... No fewer than 10 separate OSI Spot Intelligence Reports state that various witnesses described the UFOs as round, silver-colored and silent... reportedly flying faster than a jet, performed zigzag maneuvers, right-angle turns, and instantaneous, 180-degree reversals"
1958-1966: Havard, Caltech and Boulder
Eventos
April 1963 Richard Feynman "I see around me I think that it is much more likely that the reports of flying saucers are the results of the known irrational characteristics of terrestrial intelligence rather than the unknown rational ethics of extraterrestrial intelligence"
1958-1959 Carl Sagan "In 1958, Sagan worked on the classified military Project A119, a USAF plan to detonate a nuclear warhead on the moon and document its effects. Sagan had Top Secret USAF clearance and NASA Secret clearance. An article published in the journal Nature revealed that Sagan had included the classified titles of two Project A119 papers in his 1959 application for a Berkely graduate scholarship. A follow-up letter to the journal by Leonard Reiffel confirmed Sagan's illegal leak"
2/3/66 Carl Sagan "USAF convened an ad hoc committee to review Project Blue Book. Chaired by Brian O’Brien, it included Carl Sagan... met for one day, received a briefing from Lt Col Hector Quintanilla, reviewed the Robertson Panel report of 1953, and studied a few UFO reports... endorsed Blue Book, despite its knowledge that most of the 10,000+ sightings had been investigated by a ghost of a staff... concluded that UFOs did not represent extraterrestrial technology... result was the Condon Committee"
January 1967 Edward Condon, physicist, Boulder professor. and leader of the USAF Condon Committee, which published its report in 1968 "In late January 1967, Condon stated in a lecture that he thought the government should not study UFOs because the subject was 'nonsense'' adding, 'but I'm not supposed to reach that conclusion for another year.'"
1961 Carl Sagan "Sagan published an article in 1961 in the journal Science on the atmosphere of Venus... in 1961 Harvard astronomers Fred Whipple and Donald Menzel offered Sagan the opportunity to give a colloquium at Harvard and subsequently offered him a lecturer position... Sagan instead asked to be made an assistant professor... Whipple and Menzel were able to convince Harvard to offer Sagan the position... Sagan lectured, performed research, and advised graduate students... from 1963 to 1968"
1960-1975 Donald Menzel, astrophysicist, ret. USN Lt Cdr and mentor to Sagan at Harvard "was the world's leading UFO debunker... was closely tied to the intel community as a cryptologist, and had a long-standing association with NSA. A 1960 letter from Menzel to President-elect JFK mentioned his Top Secret clearance and 'some association' with the CIA. In the 1970s Menzel wrote that he 'was a consultant with Top Secret Ultra Clearance to the NSA.' Menzel and Vannevar Bush were also [WW2] friends"

March/April 1945 LTJG Clarence "Bud" Clem, USN, F6F Hellcat pilot, writing in April 2009 "We experienced an unknown object over the Hanford [Ordnance Works site in WA] in March/April, 1945. I did not fly after the object, as two members of our squadron did, but I did assist in trying to determine what was going on.... He just said it was so bright that you could hardly look directly at it. As he closed on it, it took off to the northwest at a high rate of speed. No maneuvers, just a straight-line."
8/9/45 "Fat Man" bomb is dropped on Nagasaki. Its plutonium was manufactured at the Hanford site
1/23/45 Memo from HQ 4th Air Force to Commanding General of the Army Air Forces "Resulting from an unidentified aircraft flying over the Hanford [site] at Pasco, WA on at least three nights in the past month, the 13th Naval District has made arrangements for Naval Air Station, Pasco, to employ both radar and fighter aircraft in attempting interception of these unidentified aircraft... one incident has occurred since that date in which radar contact was made: attempted night interception again failed"
1951-1952: DC, TX and OH
Eventos
7/27/1952 Harry Truman and Winston Churchill "At 10 A.M., Truman told his air force liaison, Robert B. Landry, to find out what was going on. Landry called ATIC in Dayton, where he reached Ruppelt. Ruppelt told Landry that weather might have caused the radar targets, but there was no proof. He later learned that Truman was listening to the conversation. Across the ocean, Churchill wrote to his Secretary of State for Air: 'What does all this stuff about flying saucers amount to? What can it mean?'"
7/26/1952 Lt. William Patterson, USAF, F-94 Starfire pilot on "DC flyover" "I saw several bright lights. I was at my maximum speed, but even then I had no closing speed.” "An air force intelligence report, classified until 1985, stated that the entire radar crew [at National Airport in DC] was emphatic that the returns were solid, and not temperature inversions or other atmospheric phenomena."
Aug/Sept 1951 Capt. Edward Ruppelt, USAF, Project Blue Book, writing in 1956 on the 1951 "Lubbock Lights" in TX "due to their associations with the government, [one group] had complete access to our files [along with ATIC]... These people were scientists—rocket experts, nuclear physicists, and intelligence experts... They had banded together to study our UFO reports because they were convinced that some of the UFOs that were being reported were interplanetary spaceships... Lubbock was one of these"
1948 Maj. Gen. Robert B. Landry, USAF, aide to Truman (1948-1953) "I was directed to report quarterly to the President after consulting with Central Intelligence people, as to whether or not any UFO incidents received by them could be considered as having any strategic threatening implications at all. The report was to be made orally by me... Nothing of substance considered credible or threatening to the country was ever received from intelligence."
1/9/1953 Howard C. "H.C." Cross, director of exotic metallurgy at Battelle, addressed to Ruppelt "Jacques Vallee found the infamous 'Pentacle Memorandum' in Hynek's office. This was a highly classified document from January 1953, proving the existence of a separate [well-funded] study group of UFOs, and urging that the Robertson Panel be delayed until they had come to their own conclusions... In the mid-1960s, there was still no inkling among the wider public that there was any such study as this."
1/9/1953 Howard C. "H.C." Cross, director of exotic metallurgy at Battelle, addressed to Ruppelt "In the future, then, the Air Force should be able to make positive statements, reassuring to the public, and to the effect that everything is well under control."
Aug/Sept 1951 Lubbock Lights Professor "observed one formation of lights flying above a thin cloud at about 2,000 feet which he says allowed them to calculate that the lights were traveling at over 600 miles per hour"

Nov 2004 CDR David Fravor, USN, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet pilot Off the coast of San Diego: "As we turned back towards our CAP point, roughly 60 miles east, the air controller let us know that the object had reappeared on the Princeton’s Aegis SPY 1 radar at our CAP point. This Tic Tac Object had just traveled 60 miles in a very short period of time, was far superior in performance to my brand new F/A-18F and did not operate with any of the known aerodynamic principles that we expect"
2014 Lt. Ryan Graves, USN, F/A-18E/F Super Hornet pilot Off the coast of Virginia Beach: "The UAP we encountered and tracked on multiple sensors behaved in ways that surpassed our understanding... could accelerate at speeds up to Mach 1, hold their position against hurricane-force winds, and outlast our fighter jets, operating continuously... They did not have any visible means of lift, control surfaces or propulsion... I am a formally trained engineer and I have no explanation for this"

3/7/1988 George H.W. Bush "On March 7, 1988, at a political rally in Rogers, Arkansas, Bush was about to meet with reporters when a man named Charles Huffer approached him. Carrying his tape recorder, Huffer asked Bush if, once elected President, he would 'tell the truth about UFOs.' 'Yeah,' replied Bush – quickly adding, 'if we can find it, what it is. We are really interested.' 'You’re a CIA man. You know all that stuff ,' [said Huffer]. 'I know some,' replied Bush. 'I know a fair amount.'"
1982 Ronald Reagan "thirty five others attended the special screening [of E.T.], including Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor. The movie deeply affected the Reagans, and the President said quietly to Spielberg, 'you know, there aren’t six people in this room who know how true this really is.' Apparently, the surrounding crowd made further conversation impractical. The story came from Hollywood television producer Jamie Shandera, who said that Spielberg had told him this personally"
9/21/87 Ronald Reagan "occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world. And yet, I ask you, is not an alien force already among us? What could be more alien to the universal aspirations of our peoples than war and the threat of war?"
1974 Ronald Reagan on orb sighting "We followed it for several minutes. It was a bright white light. We followed it to Bakersfield, and all of a sudden to our utter amazement it went straight up into the heavens." When Miller expressed some doubt, a 'look of horror came over [Reagan]. It suddenly dawned on him . . . that he was talking to a reporter.' Immediately afterward, according to Miller, Reagan "clammed up."
