1898 Backstory: On the
24 October 1889 Sir
Henry Parks presents a
speech at Tenterfield to
propose the idea
of Australia finally
becoming a
united nation. This
had a huge
impact for Australia
we know it
today because
through this
speech it influenced
many others
so when the referendums
came
around many voted yes. This
influenced Australia to become

A conference was held where Dr John Quick
Proposed the idea that every single Australian
Would be given a vote A value is responsibility:
responsibility because to get Australia together
is a big responsibility because you can finally get
together for a defence force and makes it easier.
Also Australia came together as a community

vote held from 1898 to 1900 and
every single
Australian colonies were
supposed to vote yes or
no for Australia to become
a united nation. These
referendums are one
of the biggest parts of
our Australian history
because this is what
made Australia a united

as they had to vote yes
or no and had to be honest
whether they wanted

Franchise Act was in acted where
it gave Australian women over 21
the right to vote. This finally showed
that Australian and women in genera
l had the same equality and a man
didn't have anymore rights than a
lady did. A big value to this is respect
and freedom. This is because
Australia finally recognised women
and respected them more. Also they

Aboriginals were given the
right to vote
This occured on 21 May 1962.
This was a big thing because
aboriginal people were finally
counted as people. A big value
is respect because Australia finally
gave them equality and the same
