Robert Hooke was looking at slices of thin cork through a microscope at 50x. Saw honey-combed like compartments in the slices. He then termed the storage-rooms as "cells". He described "cells" as the basic unit of life.
Han and Zacharias Janssen created the first compound optical microscope that magnifies to 9x. By doing this, it contributed to the cell theory, making it easier and more practical to observe cells.
Some event happened
Anton van Leeuwenhoek was the first to see and describe bacteria, yeast plants, the action in a drop of water, and the circulation of blood corpuscles in capillaries.
Matthias Schleiden stated that different parts of a plant organism is made of cells. Along with Schwann became the first to formulate an informal belief of the atomic theory of chemistry. Recognized the importance of the cell nucleus and observed its connection with cell division.
Theodor Schwann found similar structures related to Schleiden's discovery that all plants are made of cells. Schwann concluded "All living things are composed of cells and cell products". Thus, became the cell theory.
Rudolph Virchow proposed that all cells come from pre-existing cells. He thought of "every cell from a pre-existing cell became the foundations of division". He also stated that not all plants are made up of cells, which then led to the creation of the cell theory.
