Abraham Ortelius, Antonio Snider-Continental drift is the spreading of continents that were once together.
Frank Bursley Taylor-Continents moved on the surface on the earth we know this for many reasons. Those reasons are, the fact the South America and Africa fit together like a puzzle and that there are fossils on different continents then the original.
Arthur Holmes-The mantle undergoes thermal convection. The basalt in the mantle heats up then goes down under than back up to the surface. When the magma cools the result is stripes on the ocean floor.
Harry H. Hess, Dan Mckenzie- The seafloor is spreading outward from vast water ridges. The sea floor was created at mid-ocean ridges.
Fredrick Vine, Drummond Mathews- There are magnetic stripes on either side of the mid-ocean ridges. The magnetic stripes switch when the north and south pole switch.
