An explanation of the time loop in Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban . A closed loop would need to be formed in order for it to work, however we encounter an open loop with many paradoxes which go unchecked (Harry potter dying first of all). In order to fully close the time loop the events must pass in the first time line, so we effectively have two time lines (ones where they succeed and one where they do not) .
Harry's case: Harry and Hermione think Buckbeak and Sirius die -> Travel back -> Save Buckbeak, Sirius and also Harry.
Meaning Harry can never start the time travel, because he can not exist the moment time travel starts without being saved by himself.
