1854 - Florence Nightingale led a group of nurses to Crimean War
1920-1940s - hospitals created their own Schools of Nursing
2000 - CNA recommends all provinces and territories make entry for practice a nursing baccalaureate degree by this year
2004 - CNA and CASN jointly agree to the standard of baccalaureate entry requirements
Mid 20th Century - starting to see problems with hospital-based schools of nursing
1960-1970s - shift of nursing education into the community, not hospitals
1950s - biggest increase in university nursing schools, but shift was not made until the 1960s
1919 - UBC baccalaureate degree program established
1920 - McGill baccalaureate degree program established
1938 - first French baccalaureate degree program established
1908 - CNA founded
