Liberation of Majdanek
Majdanek was the first major Nazi camp to
be liberated. Soviet forces arrived at the
camp to discover an abundant amount of
evidence of Nazi crimes, such as
prisoners belongings and less than 500
alive captives.Liberation of Auschwitz
Soviet forces liberated Auschwitz to
discover an abundant amount of
evidence of Nazi crimes, such as
warehouses containing pounds of
human hair. They were able to find
over 6,000 survivors.Liberation of Buchenwald
American forces liberated the Buchenwald
concentration camp in Werimar, Germany.
They were able to find found more than
20,000 alive prisoners held captive. They
were able to find many living as the prisoners
seized control of Buchenwald before US soldiers
arrived, resisting the Nazi guards to prevent atrocities
such as death marches.Liberation of Bergen-Belsen
When British forces arrived at Bergen-
Belsen, they found thousands of dead bodies
along with 60,000 survivors. Bergen-Belsen
at this time was severely overcrowded due to the Nazis
