7 dez 1941 ano - Peral Harbor

Descrição:

When Japanese militarists made the decision to attack the United States in December 1941, they hauled off and slugged the biggest industrial giant and potential military giant in the Pacific world. The U.S. lost all 8 battleships and many aircraft and smaller ships (essentially most of the Pacific fleet). Three U.S. aircraft carriers were not in the harbor that December 7, "Black Sunday" morning. The attack clearly bought Japan some time to maneuver in the Pacific and solidify their substantial Pacific territorial gains. The significance was probably not the loss of property but the monumental shift it caused in the mood and sentiment of the U.S. people, from relative isolationism to outright fury toward the land of the rising sun.
