An American psychologist known as Evelyn Hooker administered psychological tests on homosexuals males and heterosexual males to evaluate differences. Hooker concluded homosexuals do not differ significantly from heterosexuals and should not be classified in the DSM. She presented her paper, "The Adjustment of the Male Overt Homosexual", in the 1955 APA Convention in Chicago, changing many clinical perspectives on homosexuality.
