Descrição:

The Berlin Conference met on November 15th 1884 and concluded on February 26th 1885.
The conference regulated European colonization and trade in Africa during the New Imperialism period.
Portugal protested the International Congo Association that seized many lands that belonged to the Portuguese.
Germany and France supported Belgium, which was one of the first kingdoms to organize the International Congo Association.
The conference decided that the possession of territories in Africa was obtained through effective occupation and not through historical rights which meant that Portugal no longer possessed extensive territories on the African continent.
Portugal signed a treaty with France regarding the borders of Guinea and with Germany regarding the borders of Angola and Mozambique.
