Determined not to let another Catholic monarch rule, the Parliament invited James II’s daughter, Mary Stuart and her husband William III of Orange to rule as joint monarchs. This event culminated into what is known as the Glorious Revolution, as it put an end to all internal conflicts, and the disjointed ruling between the Parliament and the monarch.
