1590: White’s return was delayed due to war with English, and once he returned, he discovered the land had been abandoned and robbed (pillaged).
Lost colony: oldest theories supported the idea that maybe the Spanish had killed these colonists. However, most recent theories seem to have discovered that this group of people arrived in the driest 7-year period in 770 years; some may have gone south, while others north, and may have been killed by natives.
