Henry Goddard, a pioneer in forensic ballistics and one of the original members of Scotland Yard's Bow Street Runners, solved a murder by matching a bullet from the crime scene to a bullet mold found in the suspect's home. This case marked one of the earliest uses of ballistics to solve crimes.
