Resolution on the Peace Conference on the Middle East

1. Requests the Secretary-General:

(a) To resume contacts with all conflict parties and the Co-Chairmen of the Peace Conference on the Middle East, as per his initiative of 1 April 1976, to prepare for the early convening of the Conference.
(b) To report to the Security Council on these contacts and the situation in the Middle East by 1 March 1977.
2. Calls for the early convening of the Peace Conference on the Middle East under United Nations auspices and co-chaired by the USSR and the USA, by the end of March 1977.

3. Requests the Security Council to meet after receiving the Secretary-General’s report to consider the situation and advance the process toward a just and lasting peace.

4. Further requests the Secretary-General to inform the Co-Chairmen of the Peace Conference on the Middle East of this resolution.
