Shanna O'Hara is kidnapped by Malgato, the red wizard who lives in the city of the gods at the centre of the savage land. In his possession, she meets the Inhumans, the results of his millennia of experimentation with the locals and Terrigan crystals. He intends to use her blood to introduce new variation to his experiments. She convinces the Inhumans to rise up against him, and take control of their own destiny. In the process, she is severely wounded. To save her life, she is exposed to Terrigian mist, which gives her a supernatural connection to the Savage Land around her.
