Invaders raid a German airbase on the day of the first test of the Silbervogel. Johann Schmidt is killed in the attack, and Armin Zola captured. Captain America is lost over the Arctic Circle as the craft, which has been headed for a Cryolite Mine in Arsuk, Greenland, explodes upon re-entering the atmosphere, a flaw in the design of the heat-shield.

Rogers is posthumously promoted to Captain.
