Descrição:

1492 AD: The Alhambra Decree, issued on 31 March 1492 by Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, ordered the expulsion of practicing Jews from Spain by 31 July 1492. The aim was to prevent the influence of Jews on converso New Christians, ensuring they did not revert to Judaism. After the decree was passed, Spain's entire Jewish population was given only four months to either convert to Christianity or leave the country. As a result, many Jews converted to Catholicism to avoid expulsion, with over 200,000 converting and 40,000 to 100,000 being expelled. The punishment for any Jew who did not convert or leave by the deadline was summary execution.
