- The military forces stationed in Atlanta and guarding the CDC are overrun. Most of the remaining staff at the facility flee or commit suicide.
- Dr. Candace Jenner is bit. Determined to not die in vain, Dr. Candace Jenner has Dr. Edwin Jenner monitor the process of her infection, death, and reanimation via MRI; and to keep searching for a cure.
- Dr. Edwin Jenner witnesses his wife's death and reanimation and records the process before shooting her in the head. Dr. Edwin Jenner recovers her brain tissue as a fresh sample to research the virus.
