28 jul 1932 ano - Bonus March
Descrição:
The Bonus March occurred in 1932 when approximately 20,000 World War I veterans, known as the "Bonus Army," converged on Washington, D.C., to demand early payment of a bonus that had been promised by Congress for their service, which was scheduled to be paid in 1945. The situation escalated when the U.S. Army, under the command of General Douglas MacArthur, forcibly removed the veterans, using tanks and tear gas, an action that greatly damaged public and political support for the Hoover administration during the depths of the Great Depression.
