Societal Change - The first ten story skyscraper was built in Chicago. (originally buildings with 10 stories or higher were considered “skyscrapers”). It opened in 1885 and is often called the first ever skyscraper because of its smart design using structural steel in a metal frame design. It was later demolished in 1931. This is still important today because it paved the way for how skyscrapers are made.
