The Bow Street Runners were founded by the Fielding brothers, who both held high positions in society. The Bow St. Runners were the first regulated police force, and weren't easily bribed because they received reasonable pay. They were trained to use weapons and investigate crimes, so they were taken seriously by the pubic.
