The Townshend duties was a series of taxes that were imposed on goods imported to the colonies from England. These goods included lead, paint, paper, and tea. The Townshend duties were passed to enforce law and try again to raise money for the British. The Townshend Duties made colonists believed that they should stand up to every tax, so they boycotted and petitioned.
